Become AAA Approved

Join the ranks of more than 31,000 lodgings, 27,000 restaurants, 3,800 privately operated campgrounds, and 15,200 attractions enjoying the advantages of being AAA Approved. These establishments are located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

AAA affiliates have met the requirements to apply and be selected for evaluation by a professional AAA inspector. During the initial evaluation and annual reviews, they demonstrate the extensive quality criteria required to be AAA Approved. And, to help AAA/CAA members choose properties right for their needs, Approved lodgings, restaurants, and campgrounds are also AAA Rated — lodgings and restaurants are assigned a rating of one to five AAA Diamonds, and private campgrounds are rated Level 1, 2, or 3.

AAA Evaluation-Approval-Rating Process

Establishment reviews minimum approval/evaluation requirements and, if eligible, completes Application for Evaluation:

  • Lodging, restaurant, and campground applicants receive response within five business days; those accepted for consideration may be evaluated within one year.
  • Attraction applicants accepted for consideration may be evaluated within one to two years.

If quality criteria are met, establishment is designated AAA Approved, listed in the print and AAA.com TourBook/CampBook guide, and eligible for exclusive marketing programs.

  • Approved lodgings and restaurants are assigned a rating of one to five AAA Diamonds.
  • Approved campgrounds are assigned a rating of Level 1, 2, or 3.
