About AAA

Traveling With Our Members, Since 1902

The year, 1902. There were only 150 miles of horse-traveled roads in America, virtually no route markings, and only 23,000 automobiles in the country.

The 1,500 Charter Members of the new American Automobile Association came together to lobby for safer vehicles and roads, and more legal rights for drivers and passengers.

Today, AAA Membership has grown to over 51 million, with more than 1,100 offices and 38,000 employees throughout the United States and Canada.

For over 100 years, our goal remains the same — to serve AAA members through a not-for-profit organization of clubs while developing new programs, products and services to meet their ever-changing needs.

Through affiliations with international motoring and travel clubs, AAA provides benefits and services to members traveling in nearly 130 countries on six continents.

Members are eligible for AAA Show Your Card & Save discounts and benefits at some 160,000 locations worldwide.
